We celebrated the 4th this weekend in conjunction with my two friends’ birthdays and mine.  In spite of hurricane Alex, we headed toward Galveston where we rented a beach house for a few days.  It was an amazing weekend spent with wonderful friends.  The weather was a bit iffy, especially on our way out when it poured buckets on us all, but in the end, it turned out to be perfect weather; not too hot, and not too rainy.

We had an “open house” type barbecue all day Saturday.  I had a lot of fun decorating the already beautiful house.  Thanks to Tweedle Dee Designs I had a bunch of ready-made printables just for the occasion.

I made some of the Red, White, and Blue cupcakes (not pictured) from HowDoesShe, as well as some delicious chocolate ones and some tri-colored vanilla ones.

Interestingly enough, I came across these little toothpicks in one of the high-up cupboards and decided to put them to use on the table.

My awesome friend, Kristin, made this decadent cake for our birthdays.  She is amazing in her cake baking and decorating skills.

In addition to the cute printables, we decorated with stuff from the Dollar Tree.  You can never go wrong in that place.

The day was spent eating, playing games, hanging out and chatting, and for some, swimming in the Gulf.

It made for some very happy kids.

But also some very tired kids.

It was a great way to spend the day with friends and family.
